Save the Date!
TMCA’s 9th Annual Symposium
October 19, 2013
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Joe C. Thompson Conference Center University of Texas
Austin

The TMCA 2013 Symposium will deliver an exciting new format, featuring nationally recognized speakers at a new and improved location. The featured speakers will be Richard Barnes, former director of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, and Michael Million, a current FMCS mediator residing in San Antonio. In essence, mediation is a process in which negotiation is conducted in the presence of a third-party neutral. While Texas credentialed mediators are trained in the mediation process, that training often does not include learning about specific negotiation styles and strategies. Messrs. Barnes and Million will provide an in-depth analysis of those styles and strategies, as well as insights on how that knowledge can be used to make us more effective mediators.

This is a program you will not want to miss because you will acquire skills you can use in your very next mediation and beyond. Watch for more information coming to this site and your email inbox.  See you in Austin this October!

Why Use a Credentialed Mediator?

Because professionalism matters. TMCA credential holders meet specific training, continuing education and experience requirements. Credential holders are bound by a mandatory Code of Ethics and a grievance process. The TMCA credential demonstrates the mediator’s commitment to delivering quality mediation services. TMCA Center Spread in June 2013 State Bar Journal

TMCA featured its Credential Holders in the center spread of the June 2013 issue of the Texas State Bar’s magazine, the State Bar Journal.  You can view our ad on pp. 535-536 of this Journal issue.

This marks the second time TMCA has run a two-page advertisement. Summer of 2011, in our Mediation Benchbook, we opted to list mediators by county. This was so well received that now do the same in our State Bar Journal advertising. Now it takes two pages to list all of our credential holders!

Supplement to the Mediation Benchbook Mailed to More than 1200 District, County, Federal and Supreme Court Judges

TMCA’s MEDIATION BENCHBOOK
Sent to All Civil Court Judges in Texas

This Mediation Benchbook provides Texas judges and others that utilize mediation a resource that includes mediation statutes, sample mediation orders, TMCA guidelines and grievance process, and the Texas Supreme Court ethics orders. Inside the Benchbook’s front cover is a list of Credential holders by county. This is the first time TMCA listed its Credential holders by county. Since this Benchbook was mailed to more than 1200 District, County, Federal and Supreme Court judges, we wanted these decision-makers to be able to easily find Credentialed mediators within their counties/regions. The Benchbook was funded by your dues and an educational grant from the James W. Gibson Scholarship Fund.

Late summer 2012, TMCA plans to mail a Benchbook supplement to this same list of judges.  The supplement will include an updated list of Credential Holders.
