TMCA’s Outstanding Credentialed Mediator for 2022

From Mike Schless, as he presented this award to Shelly Hudson:

"This award is given annually to a TMCA Credentialed mediator, nominated by her or his peers and selected by the Board of Directors, who demonstrates proficiency in the skills, techniques, and ethical conduct of a mediator; shows exceptional leadership in promoting quality mediation in Texas, either through TMCA or through one of its member organizations or interest groups; and exhibits dedication to the enhancement of our profession. This year’s recipient has excelled in all three categories for decades.

"Seven mediators have received this award. I have been fortunate to participate in the creation and presentation of this award to six of them…all giants in our profession. But none has deserved this honor more than our recipient today.

"Words like unique, steadfast, and visionary kept coming to my mind. In fact, when I looked those three words up in the dictionary, images of today’s recipient kept appearing as a synonym. Unique, because our honoree has not only served as a mediator, but also as a consumer of ADR services in the role of attorney for parties in mediation, a trainer of folks aspiring to become mediators, as well as an advocate promoting our profession in the public eye.

"Steadfast, because she has been at the tiller of our ship, as the only person who has served continuously as both a director and an officer of TMCA since it was launched in 2001.

"And visionary because she saw the future of ADR, and her place in that future, when she took the helm of her DRC 26 years ago, and then simultaneously spent the next three years going to law school until she graduated, studied for the bar, and became licensed in 1999.

"That is why the inscription on this year’s award reads:
