Application for Use of the TMCA-Accepted Training Icon for Year 2025
TMCA’s Mission
The mission of the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association (TMCA) is to “Promote Quality Mediation Throughout Texas.” Use by Texas mediation trainers of the TMCA-Accepted Training Icon fully supports this mission.
More About TMCA
- TMCA is a multidisciplinary association of mediators.
- TMCA offers voluntary credentialing to all mediators in Texas who qualify under the standards set by the Association.
- TMCA has adopted and publishes a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice that apply to all TMCA Credentialed mediators.
- TMCA reviews qualifications of applicants against established minimum standards of training, experience, and continuing education in the mediation field.
- TMCA maintains a publicly accessible list of mediators who have been granted TMCA Credentials.
- TMCA provides a forum for the acceptance of grievances against TMCA Credentialed mediators and the enforcement of the established Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
Background
In 2021, TMCA incorporated the 40-Hour Basic Mediation Training Standards of the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable (TMTR) into TMCA’s standards for such training. TMCA’s training standards also include the requirement that the 40-Hour Basic Mediation Training is fully live and interactive.
For a mediator to become Credentialed by TMCA, the applicant must have completed a 40-Hour Basic Mediation Training that meets TMCA’s training standards.
Benefits of the TMCA-Accepted Training Icon
For Texas mediation trainers, use of the TMCA-Accepted Training Icon in the marketing of the 40-Hour Basic Mediation Training and on such training’s certificates of completion assures trainees that this course provides the training necessary for TMCA Credentialing. Trainers’ such use of this icon helps demonstrate that TMCA Credentialing is available to ALL mediators they train and furthers TMCA’s mission to promote quality mediation throughout Texas.
